A first in the history of Brazilin cinema, Daughters of the Wind assembles the largest cast of black actors/actresses ever seen in a Brazilian film. It is a moving and complex story about redemption among sisters, mothers, and daughters. The film touches upon themes pertinent to women everywhere, but in small-town Brazil the ghosts of slavery and racism linger and affect the characters' lives in subtle ways. DAUGHTERS OF THE WIND was Brazil's official entry to the Academy Awards and has won several awards in Brazil including Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress.
